Time: 10:25 (Session 1) Location: ENG 2003 (Second Floor) Calling all makers! Are you wanting to discover new opportunities for your classroom? Do you want to transform learning and lead the way into a new movement? From little to no experience, you can learn how and why the Maker Movement is a perfect fit for you. The Maker Movement revolves around the concepts of a problem and students learn through hands-on exploration experiences. Makerspaces encourage collaboration and a free flow of ideas while providing a safe place for students to learn through mistakes or miscalculations. Through this practice, students explore and experience education on their own terms instead of simply receiving one stream of information and moving forward. We are exploring how it can enhance a classroom environment and align to your curriculum needs! Come explore with us and become a Maker! Focus: Explaining why the maker movement deserves a place in every classroom and how to implement this concept effectively. Time: 2:35 (Session 3) Location: ENG 2003 (Second Floor) What if we told you that you could go to Paris, Rome and Mars in the span of 45 minutes? What if you could go deep sea diving or meet a dinosaur from the comfort of your own home? What if you could draw a character on a piece of paper and make it come to life...in the real world? With augmented and virtual reality all these things are possible. In this session, you will learn not only what augmented and virtual reality is and how to use augmented and virtual reality tools, but also how you can apply these tools to your classroom environment to create a more complex, creative universe for your students. *Note to participants: please bring headphones if you have them available.
